Calif.: Woman shoots self while trying to kill mice
July 8, 2008
POTTER VALLEY, Calif. (AP) — A Mendocino County woman who was trying to kill mice in her trailer with a gun ended up shooting herself and another person.
Sheriff’s officials say the 43-year-old woman pulled out her .44-caliber Magnum revolver after she saw the mice scurrying across the floor of her trailer on Highway 20 in Potter Valley.
But she accidentally dropped the gun, which went off as it struck the floor. The bullet went through the woman’s kneecap, bounced off the keys sitting on the belt loop of a 42-year-old man in the trailer and grazed the man’s groin before ending up in his coin pocket.
Authorities did not release the shooting victims’ names.
The mice escaped the shooting unharmed.
And you thought Red Necks only lived in the deep south...

Can you just imagine? What the smoke was she thinking?
Love that saying!! WHat the smoke? Anyway, have you heard of the Darwin awards? This lady almost got into the book . . .
Shut the front door! I laughed so hard when I read this.
Reminds me of a story.
While visiting my OBGYN in Oregon she told me about a patient who asked to come in and visit with her about her BC. The lady was using the patch. When the lady got into the office she told the dr she needed a different kind of BC because she had run out of room. The dr said what do you mean you've run out of room. The lady lifted up her shirt and her torso was completely covered in patches. She never removed the old one, just kept adding to it.
Crazy. The Dr. told me the good news was at least the lady was on BC.
True Story.
I read it again, and laugh again. I can't believe people are really this stupid...
We have a friend who blew out his femur with a .45 hollow point. He was cleaning it or something, or he pulled it back to show someone the chamber, I don't know, but he will never walk the same again.
