So, Jason has been working on a fence for his grandma. It started with ripping out the old fence and hauling it to the dump. Then, a couple of weeks ago, the fencing she wanted went on sale, so we went to Home Depot to get all the supplies, but the big truck just didn't have any more room in it for cement. So we figured we'd wait.
In the meantime, the fence that belongs to the home behind grandma started falling down. It was probably put in 30 years ago, and I don't think the posts were cemented. It is a rental house full of collage boys. The boys could care less about the fence. They only care about parties, and maybe a little bit about school, and maybe about girls, too. But anyways, grandma kind of rigged the fence so her dogs wouldn't go into their yard, but the hurricane force winds on Monday caused the fence to blow down completely, and into grandmas yard, thus crushing her flowers. She was not too happy, and when grandma's not happy, ain't no one happy. She went out into the yard, in the before mentioned hurricane winds, and tried to push the fence back into their yard. Well, she's 81, almost 82 years old. And she's a little woman. The fence fell back on her head, cut her head open, and she had to have 5 staples in her scalp after spending 6 hours in the emergency room.
Last Saturday, Jason couldn't start getting the fence up because he had to cut a bunch of trees out of grandmas yard first. So, this coming Saturday, he was going to get it started.
However, when he went to Home Depot last night, they were all out of fence post cement. Can you even imagine why Home Depot would be out of fence post cement? Seems them evil hurricane force winds caused everyone's fence to need repairs. They might get more in today or tomorrow. Maybe.
Let's just say grandma isn't very happy now at all. The entire fence is gone, and her dogs won't stay in her yard (what dog would?) (also, the other yard has a pool with no water, and she is afraid her dogs will get in the pool and not be able to get out). And the kids in the house are just punk kids, and the owner, who is a local doctor, just happens to be in Hawaii, and can't do anything about it right now, but he'll come by and give it a look next week when he get home. (this is per his office staff)
Ugh. This fence job that Jason thought wouldn't be a big deal, and grandma said she'd pay him, so we thought we could use the extra cash to pay some bills, has turned into a serious project, and he's sweating over grandma being so mad.
Pray for us that the cement does come in. Today, so we can get it first thing in the morning.
(this isn't grandma's fence, just a photo I found on line to give you an idea of what it would look like if I took the picture.)
